Wilsons on Moosehead Lake reporting: So much to report! There are many exciting things going on here at Wilsons Camps on Moosehead Lake.

We have ice and lots of it! Grab your gear and come show us how it’s done! The new docks are a perfect place to sit, enjoy the beautiful scenery and do some jigging. We can’t wait to see all of our winter friends! The ice continues to form in the cove and we’ve had a successful ice fishing season already!! Last weekend reports of 9-16 inches everywhere, and it’s done nothing but make more ice since then. Catching lots of great fish and beautiful weather to enjoy your time with us!

Things are set up for a great base, and we are actively grooming our section of ITS 88 from here at the camps south (or east as they call it!). Some corners are a little thin and we can always use more snow, but overall in very good condition. Riders are reporting the area trails are groomed and very enjoyable! ITS 88 will remain the same as last year connecting to ITS 86 part way between Greenville and the Forks Trail System.

We have gone Wi-Fi!!!! We now have a broadband system offering wireless Internet to our guests and all of the cabins. We upgraded the system, so it now reaches everyone staying here and is password protected! We also have set up more cabins with satellite TVs. The winter cabins (excluding our 2 smallest) now ALL have TV! Never thought it would be that popular here in the North Woods, but it has become that way…so we aim to please!

Our waterfront is quieting down as most of our feathered friends head south for the winter months. Still have a few stragglers hanging tough, but sightings have diminished. Moose and deer are still making their appearance on the roadsides, so use caution especially driving after dark. These along with the amazing winter background, make for great photo opportunities! Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and beautiful nature viewing are all at your cottage door! Come enjoy this beautiful region!

Attention Fishermen: Ice fishing opened up on January 1st and our protected cove is ready and waiting! Make your reservations now so you don’t miss out! The annual ice fishing derby the weekend of January 27th was once again a great success. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who participated!

The East Outlet is now open all year for fly-fishing only! Water is being released from the East Outlet of the Kennebec River. Reminder: The River changed to catch and release only on October 1st. Walk right out your cottage door over to the River for some of the best fly-fishing! For daily water releases, call 1-800-557-3569 or give us a call at 1-800-817-2549 to make your reservation!

Hunters: Rabbit hunting continues through the end March. Now is the perfect time to run the dogs as the ground is hard and not much snow for those short legged friends! We have packages that range from lodging only to complete guided packages with meals. Plan ahead for next fall for grouse, woodcock, moose and deer hunting. This past year we had great conditions for hunting adventures! I’m proud to say my two oldest boys both filled their tag this year and we are eating well this winter!

The Moosehead Lake Region is full of great family activities year round! Don’t miss the great events- Visit www.mooseheadlake.org for full calendar. The area offers hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing. You can’t beat the Moosehead air and scenery.

A number of our cottages have working fireplaces-perfect for curling up relaxing or reading a good book! Visit Wilsons on Moosehead Lake-Open Year Round.

We have some openings in our lakefront cottages! Send us an email to wilsonscamps@yahoo.com or give us a call for availability at 1-800-817-2549. We look forward to seeing you real soon.

Come see why folks say we have ‘Moosehead’s Million Dollar View’!

The perfect place to do everything…or nothing at all!
