Well Steve ( you picture stealer  Grin  )  Hate to burst your bubble, but it was a POLARIS piece of crap not a Yamaha!!
And not really sure what happened, it just started smoking and up in flames she went! Kinda scarey for the woman who was on it in her own yard with her kids!

Just for arguements sake, cause that is what we do here.. LOL My Yamaha wheeler has never seen a dealer in its 7 years of life and its still going strong!  Tongue

Hehheh . . . true story.

A good friend of mine bought a Polaris ATV . . . and a year or so later for unrelated reasons ended up getting a divorce . . . although truth be told she didn't particuarly like the idea of buying an ATV.

It was right after his divorce was finalized that Polaris sent him a card that actually said something to the effect, "It's been a year since we showed you the way out . . ." He thought that was the funniest thing . . . it's still stuck up on his refrigerator.

I can say that because I owned one 04' Sportsman 600 LTD ed, rode like crap, no power, and not really comfortable, I bought it on a whim and was that a mistake. It was the way out for sure, and yes it did cause me to walk Angry I now own a 09' Can-am Outlander 800R Max and this machine is absolutely amazing Wink great in every aspect, and I really don't miss having the power steering! I have had polaris sleds my whole life. When I broke down and bought a couple polaris wheelers... BIG MISTAKE!!! Polaris wheelers are pretty embarising. I will say that sportsman 850 with dual exaust looks pretty mean. If I ever buy another wheeler it will be a Honda for sure. This is coming from a polaris die hard. Their wheelers are junk.

I have a 5-6 friends that ride. All the machines and Polaris and Honda. No problems with any of them really. I will stick with Honda with my next machine. That's a ways out though.

I opened my mouth and jinx my self!! Went for a Club ride sunday and I went to cross a road and it felt like it popped out of gear, went to shift it and nothen, engeged the 4x4 and it moved,I knew the shaft joint didnt brake, replaced that last summer and it would have made a clunking noise when trying to move it but it wasnt making no noise, knew it was something in the rearend. We took it apart last night and it the ring gear and rear axle is so worn out that is not bitten to each other. Getting my Honda OEM parts off www.servicehonda.com Ring gear is $100 and the rear axle is $113,saving over $100 going through them. They have all OEM parts but Artic cat. They are roughly 30-40% off what the dealers charge

With that many miles on the Honda, it's more like routine maintenance!

one year I had to replace the rear bearing on the brake side that goes once in a life time, the other side every 4000 miles they go out,the front wheel bearings and ball joints last about 4000-5000 miles. I replace the Rear shaft Joint last year. Its been a very good machine for me. Some work but its expected with that many miles.
