clutch on a 550 couger (Read 803 times)

clutch on a 550 couger

bought a 97 550 for my daughter to start on  and the primary sticks open  sometimes  any thuoghts,it has 3000 miles on it,i'm thinking it needs a good cleaning but i don't know alot about clutches especially arctic cat

Try cleaning it and blowing it out first but if it's sticking likely the bushings are gone and it needs a rebuild.

Huh, that's odd?  Those older Cat clutches didn't last too long.  3000 miles could very well be all it will get especially if it has been neglected since 1997  undecided   They are much better now, my old sled has 11,000 miles and went to rebuild the clutch but there was no need to.  Everything looked fine....works fine

i thought it was odd to,off and on when u go to stop the primary does not open and it will stall out as u try to stop.I don't think it was takin care of very well but i got it for $800 and everything else seems fine

Can't beat that, definitely want to go through it.  That clutch can be rebuilt for +/- $200 at a dealer.

going to take these clutches off soon now that the seasons over and was wondering if someone on here who knew how, would like a little side project rebuilding them
