Marginal Snow Wheel Kit: 2006 Vector GT
08/03/09 at 9:31pm

Hey.. I just bought the kit but am not sure where to put it. In front of the rear idlers or at the bend in the rail next to the rubber stop? It seems pretty tight here at the bend. Does drilling the rail at the bend weaken the rail? Any pics of your set-up would be appreciated. The part# I got is SMA-8FA95-00.

...some thing just doesn't sound right....if thats a Yamaha kit, it should have all the directions  & IF drilling is needed, there should be a template...

Yeah, I do have it on my warrior and I think it works.  Got over 2k on my slides last season and easy 16-18 mpg.  They are at the bend like jim said.  As for a short track, I had them on my 05 vector which my mom rides now and it rolled a lot better and good wear on slides. As for mounting I just put them as far front as I could with the block fitting flat on the rail.  No issues and I suggest loctite for the wheel and block bolts. Blue that is.  As for directions...they were weak to say the least. Let me know if you have questions Vector!

I dont get hifax wear in the front, but I get it big time about 6-8 inches in front of the back wheels.  I was thinking of try ice scratchers right before that area...  only real gripe I have about the sled...

Easy. If you can change the oil in a car you can do this...

That's where they go on the Polaris' (pre-drilled). I've had them on my Fusion since I got it (6000 miles) and I've never had to replace the slides and I never feel them stick, even in horrific conditions. They really are worth it, IMO.

I actually drilled holes in the wrong place at first. Had them to far forward. I will take some pics of mine tomorrow when it is light out. Think the rails will be ok with a couple extra small holes in them? Hope so.....

Here is the pic. You can also se the hole I drilled too far ahead just to the right of it. I do not think it will be a problem??

why would it be, there are already plenty of predrilled areas on the rail, I wouldnt worry bout it.. on side, the aluminum and the rest of the sled are spotless  !!!  guess I need to go wash my sled, just moved it out of the garage today. Smiley

Looks good jim.. I agree with natty, that other hole shouldn't effect anything.  Rails look nice! Give us an update on the performance of it once we hit the trails.  It should help.
