Search on Doo Talk Classified ads. You can buy a used kit that someone took off to save weight or one from a parts sled.

Kits can be bought new for around $590 come complete with all needed parts, including the battery. (plus warranty)  Depending on what vintage sled you have, or if you have RER, then you will get the short harness to change out to make the RER button also work as the E start button.
If no RER, then you will get a keyed switch.

Simple to install in a ZX chassis,   little more of a challenge to install in a REV.

You will also have to remove your clutch and tap the holes on the inner half to hold ring gear.

Installed a kit in an 04 REV couple seasons ago, biggest challenge is bolting the starter motor in.
unbolted the motor mounts, lifted motor to make it easier.
2 hours to get it into the machine, 30 minutes to wire and have system functioning.

Agreed above. I paid $650 to have the shop install mine on my 01' 800 MXZ. Didn't have the shop to do it in....Now I love it after having one season (first year) with out it.

Depends on what you value.

500-600 dollars on a 6 year old sled not worth it to me! Keep pulling it Grin

Whats 5 to $600.....   Isnt that what most of us spend on a weekend of snowmobiling anyways.......Little cost for the added luxury of not pulling.
All my sleds are now bought with E-Starts, and Reverse.....
Also helps some with trade and or resale values.   Educated broader market looking for the simplicity of riding. Push button and go !!

getting to be very litttle value in the 03-05 Revs so I agree about not dumping $600 into it.

Also another angle,   If you have kids, wife, or a significant other that you want to get into snowmobiling,  and dont want to be the one always pulling their cord at those stops......then the money would be well spent.
Plus they wont feel so dependent on someone else always being there to start them. Wives get bitchy quick if you start and go, and they cant get theirs running, or cant back it up..... been there done that.

And allot of people looking for those starter sleds would be more apt to purchase that 03 or newer sled with electric and reverse before one without.
Ask any dealer,  im sure they will tell you the same.

Im in my 40's and wouldnt be without e-start or reverse,    and if i couldnt afford a new sled and have it on it,  i would damn sure give up a weekend of riding and put the cost into having it installed.

If you want to have it installed,  and plan on keeping the sled for another season,  then i would do it  !!!   JMO
